I’m Chloe, a 35 year old from Essex in the UK. When I say I’m an Essex Girl, I mean that in the best possible way. We are formidable women! I‘m married to a Yorkshireman and a mum of three - one incredible little boy, a baby girl cat named Dolly and Elton, our french bulldog/house pig. I have been with my husband since we met in a lecture at university and we‘ve been best friends ever since. He’s part of the reason I love travelling so much, when I met him at 19 there was barely a country he hadn’t already visited while backpacking.
Side note: I have needed to level him up from hostels…
The other man who inspired my love of holidays was my maternal Grandad. Unusually for his generation he travelled all over the world both with work and then in retirement. He loved sunshine and a holiday (the apple didn’t fall far from the tree). I launched this website on his birthday, I hope he’d be proud of me.
That Holiday Mum started in lockdown with our long-awaited newborn. Very unexpectedly, it took us four dark years of IVF and loss to meet him and then when we finally did, it was the very peak of the pandemic. The village was sparse, but we were so very happy he was here. Despite our beautiful newborn bubble, I was so desperate to show him the world and frustrated to be stuck in the living room that I started an Instagram page sharing old holiday photos and dreaming of where we might go. Enter: That Holiday Mum!
Now, we say yes to as many adventures as we can. Exploring at home in the UK and abroad, mixing up home stays and hotels, beaches and mountains. I believe passionately that everyone works hard and deserves holidays without compromise and Holiday Mum has evolved to a place where hopefully we can inspire more families to say yes to adventure. I’m so excited to share this chapter of our life with you all.
