about That HolidayMum
I’m Chloe, aka That Holiday Mum.
A little about me: I’m a thirty-something born, raised and still living in Essex – via Manchester and London. I’m married with an amazing four year old son, a french bulldog (Elton) and the cat governor of our house (Dolly). I didn’t actually start properly travelling until my early 20s, but my first flight was when I was 14: two weeks in a resort in Mallorca. I still remember now how much I thought I was in heaven – feeling the sun on my face every day and eating tapas every night. Since I was able to fund my own travels, that has been how I have spent all my time – and money!
How that holiday mum started
After many years of IVF, we finally became pregnant and found ourselves locked in the house in the middle of the pandemic. It was during maternity leave that Holiday Mum was born, as an outlet for dreaming about our many travels past and where we might go as a family. When we finally could explore, the combination of waiting so long to become a family and then to be out in the world as a family, totally enhanced my world view and made me determined to live the fullest life we can.
WHY READ THAT HOLIDAY MUM
I believe wholeheartedly that everyone works hard and deserves amazing holidays. At first Holiday Mum was created to help us make our own memories and maximise our time together as a family and now that has expanded to support as many other families as possible follow their dreams for adventure.
Whether it’s quality, quantity or both – I’m driven by inspiring as many families as I can to dream big about travel and make the best memories possible for their little team.
Dedication
It wouldn’t be right introducing That Holiday Mum without thanking the three men in my life who in their own way inspired what it has become today. Firstly, my maternal grandfather who was ahead of his time when it came to travel. He hated the cold and would regularly spend months in Australia in his retirement, stopping off at a new destination around the world each time. My husband, who is the most well-travelled person I know. His confidence in any situation has pushed me to explore further in the best kind of way and I am so lucky that he will be my lifelong travel companion. And lastly, my son – who has made me want to dream bigger for my own life to try to give him the very best life has to offer.
Within these blog pages, I hope that you all find something that speaks to you and your family – whether it be the tools to carve out more time together travelling, destination inspiration or tips to manage family travel. Here’s to seeing more of the world with the people we love.
