I take Hotel Life very seriously. That feeling of being wrapped up in a beautiful location, in a bed like a cloud, where for a blissful day or two someone takes all of your chores away. It’s heaven to me. And I research hotel stays as if I were studying for a degree in the subject.
Another Place in the Lake District has long been on my list as somewhere that had been highly praised by parents as hitting the family friendly mark.

the room

With a wide range of rooms available, including cosy and romantic shepherds huts, we opted for a two bedroom family room with a lake view. We prize a good nights sleep over most things in our house and separate sleeping spaces are A MUST. The room was spacious and the children’s bedroom, with its own TV, was colourful, fun and thoughtful. We loved waking up to a view of Lake Ullswater from our comfy king sized bed. If there was one criticism, I would say that for the room rate the family room was perhaps a little tired but I am being picky there because we were perfectly happy with the comfort and the view.

activities
This is where Another Place really comes into its own. With a supervised crèche for all ages, ample outdoor pursuits including night swim stargazing and kayaking, and a pool with generous family swim times – Another Place really does cater for the whole family. There really is no need to leave the hotel for the huge variety of activities it offers, but Ullswater itself is truly beautiful.
We particularly loved Aira Force – one of Englands best waterfalls, just 5 minutes away from the hotel.

THE FOOD
For parents of fellow Fussy Eaters, I cannot extol the benefits of an Another Place break more! The hotel has three restaurants: Rampsbeck – the main dining room, The Living Space – a brasserie style bar and Glasshouse – a wood-fired pizza place. Not only were there ample healthy options for our little boy, there were also no eyebrows raised when we asked for meals like a plain bowl of pasta.
And that’s the kind of judgement free place I love!! Breakfast was a lavish affair and included a waffle making station, which is a recipe for a fun hassle free start to the day for absolutely anyone.

overall
There’s no doubting that Another Place is a treat. We paid £400 for dinner, bed and breakfast – which we felt was a good enough deal including food and the amount of free activities available. We waited to get a 20% off deal and it’s worth checking out their offers before you book to make sure you’re getting the best bang for your buck.
But if you’re looking for a break where everything has been considered for your family, lean into the magic of Another Place.
That Holiday Mum x
