Those who have followed That Holiday Mum for a while will know I keep a hallowed ‘dream hotel list’ in my phone notes. Les Roches Rouges has been on the list since 2018 and so when planning our ten year wedding anniversary trip as a couple I made a beeline for booking this romantic hotel in the South of France. Les Roches Rouges is a hotel hot spot to write home about and we couldn’t have asked for a better stay for our special occasion.

The Room

Our room hit every note I was hoping that it would. Staying in the recently refurbished new wing of the hotel, we opted for a Sea View Deluxe room. Walking in, the Mediterranean was framed perfectly by the balcony and vibrant yellow awning. The furnishings were sumptuous with sweet details like a collection of hand-made snacks and soaps for our arrival.
The ochre tiled bathroom housed Grown Alchemist products and cosy bath robes to wind down after a long day by the pool. Large rattan beach bags emblazoned with the hotel name are also provided to fill up with poolside essentials for the duration of your stay.
The Food
The hotel has three incredible restaurants and I would expect no less in France!! On our anniversary we booked a table at the on-site Michelin starred, Recif. Perched on a balcony with panoramic sea views we were treated to the theatre of a six-course tasting menu based around delights from the very ocean in front of us. With bespoke cocktails and a small range of set menus to select from, Recif really was the cherry on top of our amazing stay at Les Roches Rouges.

For breakfast and our last dinner reservation we ate at the all day eatery Estelo – absolutely everything we ate was classic, fresh and delicious. All tables in Estelo had views of the Med and it was oh-so-easy to spend hours here drinking cold glasses of Provence rose.
For lunch and light bites the third restaurant, La Chicoula is perfect. As the sun sets, the DJ here only increases the ‘stay and chill here a while’ vibe.
Amenities
Les Roches Rouges is a haven for relaxation. There are two pools, one a natural sea salt pool carved into the rocks, and gently attentive service means there’s always a smoothie or glass of rose close by if you need it! If you can prise yourself from your sun lounger (confession: I was static throughout) there are banana yellow striped rubber rings, snorkelling gear and paddle boards which are free to use. There is also a yoga deck offering a daily schedule of classes with an accompanying gym.

Useful Info

How to get there: The closest airport to the hotel is Nice. We wanted this to feel like a low effort, high spoiling weekend away so we booked a transfer from the airport which took around 1.5 hours. You can also take an hour long direct train from the airport to the nearest station of St Raphael – Valescure (or of course as it’s the South of France go all out with a helicopter transfer!!).
When to go: The South of France is at its gorgeous best from June to September.
Length of stay: We felt so restored after a 48 hour mum and dad getaway here. You could easily stay longer but two-nights is enough to feel brand new.
Overall
There’s no denying that Les Roches Rouges has a picture perfect aesthetic, but the attention to detail and incredible food offering really elevate this Mediterranean hideaway to elite stay status. It’s a couples retreat to bookmark for sure!
