B-Hostel Comporta, Hotel Review

Comporta is a dream.  A real-life dream.  Long, sandy beaches, dolphins playing in the wild in front of your eyes and the achingly cool beach clubs and restaurants.  But these vibes carry a price tag and the stalwart accommodation options in Comporta will often break the bank.  Enter B Hostel stage left…. All of the Comporta vibes, minus the £00’s.  Set on the edge of Comporta town, this hostel with heart was a great pit stop on our 6 week tour of Portugal.

The Room

We opted to stay in one of the family rooms which had a double bed, bunk beds, small lounge area, en-suite and our own patio garden.  This cost us around 85% less than other family room options in other nearby resorts and really did not scrimp on style in any way!  As you might expect from a hostel it didn’t come with the bells and whistles of tea and coffee making facilities or beach towels but it was a fully laundered, clean and more than eye-pleasing space.  One thing to note is if you want housekeeping after check-in day you will need to arrange that at extra cost.

Activities

The main draw in Comporta are the beaches and you can borrow beach paraphernalia from the hostel free of charge.  The accommodation also has a pool, garden and entertainment room with TV and games to use at your leisure.  You can borrow bikes too to head out along the beach paths and explore.  We chose to drive down to the beaches (gone are the days of needing just a towel – we need EQUIPMENT) and one of our favourite memories of the whole trip was watching the sun set over the Atlantic on one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever been to.  Comporta also is a boutique and antique shopping haven, head to Casa Da Cultura for a high-end boho market experience.

The Food

The ‘high-end’ hostel vibe really comes into it’s own when it comes to food.  A continental breakfast is available every dayand you can choose to ‘cook in’ in the communal kitchen at any time.  But attached to B-Hostel is a high-end delicatessen and pizza restaurant which elevates the experience for those who want it.  We found the kitchen to be clean and available whenever we wanted it but also found bountiful options for food in wider Comporta and down at the beach.  For ‘cheap eats’ our favourite was Pizza Pisco and we had the most delicious rosé filled lunch at Sublime Comporta Beach Club.

Overall

Those of you who have followed along on Instagram for a while will know that hostel life is not normally my modus operandi, I’m a girl who likes her home comforts and a little luxury. However, I can really recommend B Hostel as a chic, affordable oasis in a sea of resorts that can carry an eye-watering price tag – giving you a chance to experience the out-of-this-world beaches of Comporta.
